Medium: Terracotta

Finely potted, the skyphos stands on a small disc foot, the bulbous body swells upwards, with central figures on either side framed by a band of dotted ovolo above and palmette complexes to either side beneath the handles. Looking to the left, Dionysos stands in profile on one side, nude but for a himation slung over his right arm, hung behind, and the other held in his left hand, holding a thyrsos in his right. On the other side a draped maenad runs to the left, holding a wreath and a tambourine with a quartered ball in the field.
