Attic Black-Figured Kylix

Low in profile and sitting on top of a stemmed foot, the shallow bowl of this kylix is decorated on each side with a Dionysiac scene. Side A features a figure mounting a quadriga, with a dancing satyr behind, and side B has a similar scene with a rider in front.  The tondo depicts a maenad holding a thyrsos, with details incised and in added white.

Bowl repaired from 3 large fragments. Foot repaired at join with body. Two small restored triangular shaped sections along rim and beginning of both break lines. Painted surface worn and with rubbed patches. Some flaking of black glaze over handles. Interior with some rubbing to tondo, scratches and flaking of glaze and some patches of light surface dirt encrustation. Some losses to the added white on exterior.
