This charming image depicting the goddess Demeter is both lively in nature and substantial in size. She is shown frontally with shoulder length centrally parted ribbed hair and wearing a polos. She has almond-shaped eyes and full lips. Covered throughout in white slip with remains of red pigment on drapery and polos.

Repaired from fragments with overpainting and infill, particularly down both arms. Remains of cream slip and pigment in places with rubbing to the higher area revealing the terracotta colour beneath.
