A very fine New Kingdom alabaster flask with broad lentoid body and convex sides. The finely carved cylindrical neck terminates in a rounded rim, and features twin loop handles on each side.  At nearly 9" tall, and executed with masterful precision, this alabaster jug is a rare and exceptional example of the type.

Alton Edward Mills (1882-1970), Switzerland; and thence by descent to the present owner.

Intact with no repair or restoration. Both handles with worn flaked chips to edge. Natural fissures to the alabaster over the body of the vessel, which has now discoloured to a dark brown colour with dirt encrustation. Patches of dark coloured dirt encrustation, particularly around the handles.
