A lively and dynamic composition, this red sandstone relief shows the god powerfully carved standing in ‘tribhanga’ underneath an arched niche supported by slender columns. He wears a garland and tiara of skulls, while holding a rattle drum in his upper right hand, with his long locks of hair bound up in conical form and held upright by his crown. The composition is completed by a sensuously rendered attendant holding a flywhisk to his right. The arch above is deeply carved with a foliate border.
