This mid-sized geometric oinochoe of Italic manufacture has a particularly attractive silhouette, well balanced with tangential lines in all the right places.  The undulating mouth with trefoil lip, sits atop a long, slender neck that quickly advances at the shoulder into a round full body tapering at the foot. Entirely decorated in brown slip, the neck features a band of large triangles and horizontal bands, the shoulder includes a band of triangles (rays), and the body displays two serpentine bands with multiple horizontal bands of varying widths.  A large ray pattern made up of a band of elongated triangles radiate from the foot, while the handle is composed of crossed and horizontal bands.

Private collection, UK, acquired 1990 from Charles Ede Ltd, London (catalogue 150, no. 28)

Trefoil lip with repaired break with infill and overpainting along the repair lines. Handle repaired at top and bottom with infill and overpainting around both breaks. A corresponding small infilled section over the body just below the handle. A consolidated vertical fracture running from the base of the oinochoe up through the body into the bands of decoration over the middle of the body with infill and overpainting along this line. Slight misfiring of the dark slip to red in places. Dirt speckling in patches of the surface. Some crazing and minor flaking to the decoration overall.
