Of beautiful rich, translucent alabaster, banded with creamy hightlights, this sizeable vessel is of exceptional quality.  The cylindrical squat piriform body tapers to a flat base, with a slightly inward-curving lip and twin pierced lug handles.

Alton Edward Mills (1882-1970), Switzerland; and thence by descent to the present owner.

Intact, with no visible repair or restoration. A few stable internal fracture lines visible in matrix of alabaster, including running vertically down from the rim just in front of left hand side handle on illustrated side and another on the rim towards the right hand side. The interior left unpolished. The base stamped with an '8'.
