The head, while slightly worn, is likely that of the goddess Venus, with a gentle upward turn and idealized features. Soft tressed waves of hair elegantly frame the face and meet at the back of the head in a bun.  Deeply set, heavy lidded eyes lie beneath sharply defined brows which gently merge with the well defined nose bridge, and sensuous full lips sit between soft, rounded cheeks. The shoulders and torso belong to another statue, likely that of the goddess Artemis, and could possibly date to the 1st century due to its high style.

Estate of Zena Hoffman, Los Angeles, CA, owned at least by 1970

Separate head married to bust, with softening and wear to forehead and top of scalp. Missing nose, cracks to both the right check and left breast, with chips, losses, and minor overall surface abrasions.
